Aristotle: The Organon

This project was an examination of a book of etchings by Giovanni Battista Piranesi of Trajans Column. I studied the book along with the actual column and categorized them in the 10 ways Aristotle laid out in “The Organon: The Ten Categories of Interpretation.” Each category is represented on its own two sided 6x9 “plate.” In doing so I reinterpreted the book and column by digitizing and vectorizing their forms and concepts into representational elements. The back of each card has a connecting spiral staircase that begins to speak of the part-to-whole concept and also the physicality of the actual column.
